ITV expects to generate record advertising revenues this year thanks to a jump in online marketing spending and the reopening of the economy.
Annual ad sales are set to climb 24 per cent compared with last year, when marketing chiefs slashed their budgets and suspended campaigns after the pandemic struck.
In a trading update, ITV revealed that total advertising revenue rose 30 per cent in the nine months to the end of September. The result was lower than a forecast from Numis, the stockbroker, which predicted a 35 per cent increase.
Total external revenues grew 28 per cent to £2.4 billion, with turnover at its studios division 32 per cent higher in the first three quarters of the year.
